Majorel’s Detroit Office Brings Hundreds of Jobs to City
The company’s new facility at 211 West Fort Street expected to open in the fall
DETROIT, August 1, 2022–Majorel Group Luxembourg S.A. (“Majorel”, the ”˜’Company”), a leading global provider of next-generation end-to-end customer experience (CX) solutions for digital-native and vertical leading brands, today announced it has selected 211 West Fort near the Campus Martius Park area as the location for its downtown Detroit office.
The company’s custom-built space spans over 35,000 square feet across two floors. The new space can accommodate more than 600 employees at full capacity. Despite the country’s tight labor market, Majorel well exceeded its goal of hiring 150 employees by the end of June. Come July 1, Majorel had hired more than 500 new employees. The choice of 211 West Fort further establishes the company in the city as business momentum continues.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said, “Majorel’s choice of 211 West Fort is a great move because it will bring hundreds of new jobs to a signature building in our city’s growing downtown, and a lot of those jobs were filled by residents of the city, thanks to Majorel’s commitment to prioritize Detroiters through Detroit at Work. We are looking forward to a major international company like Majorel establishing a presence in our city once their new space opens.”
In February, Majorel announced it selected Detroit out of 50 possible U.S. locations after a national search that included working locally with the Detroit Regional Partnership. It also partnered with the city, Detroit Economic Development Corporation (DEGC), Detroit at Work, and Wayne County to promote job opportunities, starting with hosting job fairs at the Renaissance Center.
“Ultimately, the talent is what brought us to Detroit,” said Gus Gikas, Majorel’s vice president of operations for North America. “Of course, you can train employees on the technical side of customer service, but success in this role takes compassion, a collaborative attitude, and positive thinking. Without those qualities, it’s hard to deliver a satisfying experience to customers. Once we started going through applications and meeting prospective employees, it became clear that the City of Detroit offer exactly the right mix of skills to deliver those satisfying experiences.”
Key partners in the project applauded the news:
Kevin Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer for the DEGC
“The DEGC welcomes Majorel to Detroit, and we celebrate Majorel’s commitment to prioritize
hiring Detroiters for stable, sustainable jobs. We are proud to see yet another innovative, techforward company choose Detroit, further demonstrating that our city is the place to be for
cutting edge development and tech talent.”
Warren C. Evans, Wayne County Executive
“There are a lot of good things to be said about Majorel’s decision to locate their new office in
Detroit. However, what stands out to me is that a company with such an established reputation
could have gone anywhere. But there was something about Detroit that clicked. I think that
Majorel saw the true Detroit–the city Detroiters have known about all along, a city with the
potential to not just meet expectations but exceed them.”
Maureen Donohue Krauss, President and CEO, Detroit Regional Partnership
“Majorel’s hiring success reflects their commitment to the city and region. Attracting a
company of this caliber reflects how the region is emerging as a top tech hub where innovators
can expand and thrive. Our talent, business climate, and quality of life are tough to beat and
will continue to attract leading companies, like Majorel, from traditional tech markets as word
spreads about the return on investment in the city and the surrounding eleven counties.”
Brad Foster, Managing Partner of Foster Financial, owner of 211 West Fort Street
“Having Majorel as an anchor tenant at 211 is a big win for our company. Our organization
prides itself on being extremely hands-on owners, which allows us to offer a better experience
for tenants. Their office opening is a huge deal for the city of Detroit, as well as our property.
I’m thankful to be a part of the Downtown turnaround story.”
