DRP Nets 1,600+ Jobs and $236M in Investment through August 

Business interest remains high in our 11-county region, which translated to a busy 2022 so far. The Detroit Regional Partnership’s (DRP) Business Development team continues to actively engage international and domestic markets showcasing why our region is the best value in North America for expansion and relocation projects. 

Through August 31, our team closed 25 deals, bringing 1,609 jobs and $236 million investment to the Detroit Region. 

Here are just a few of our highlights stemming directly from the DRP’s site selector and business development activities in support of these projects and our partners. 

Majorel exceeds initial hiring goal, employs 500+ as it announces Detroit location 

Majorel, a leading global provider of next-generation end-to-end customer experience (CX) solutions, selected 211 West Fort as the location for its downtown Detroit office. Majorel well exceeded its goal of hiring 150 employees by the end of June hiring more than 500 new employees, and offering hundreds pathways to exciting tech careers. 

National beverage manufacturer building a state-of-the-art facility in Macomb’s Shelby Twp. 

Building its first plant in Michigan, Niagara announced it is creating 50 jobs and generating $100 million in investment in a new facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology, adding to the region’s strong manufacturing base and world-class talent. 

BayoTech planning hub for hydrogen fuel cells at American Center for Mobility 

The hydrogren production company headquartered in New Mexico plans to operate a research facility for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles at the American Center for Mobility. BayoTech is planning to hire 8 to 12 employees, and this announcement reflects the Detroit Region’s leadership in all things mobility, including hydrogen-powered electric vehicles. 

Automotive software company moving HQ to Ann Arbor 

Automated driving software company ADASTEC plans to relocate its U.S. headquarters from Silicon Valley to the SPARK Central Innovation Center in Ann Arbor, demonstrating the region’s appeal as a prime R & D hub and its rich tech ecosystem. ADASTEC will be leveraging testing resources through the University of Michigan’s Mcity Tech Lab Program and currently is testing buses at Michigan State University. 

Ontario-based machine tool company bringing operations to St. Clair County 

Axiom, a machine tool manufacturing company serving major OEMs in U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Italy, is investing $13.3 million creating more than 200 jobs at new facility in the village of Capac, strengthening the state’s position in advanced mobility manufacturing.
